Submitting Works for Publication
Open for Submissions
Thank you for your interest in Matthew J. Scott Music Publishing. It is our goal to bring new music to the foreground by providing publishing administration services to composers and music writers. By allowing you to write what you want, when you want, and at your own pace, we feel that this allows you to focus on your work instead of worrying about publishing. As a publishing administrator, we act as a framework for your self-publishing: we print, distribute, sell, and advertise for your pieces in order to let you continue working. We are and always will be open for submissions. All works from all genres will be considered, including educational works and written works about music. We will work to find a publishing solution for everything from a single-page lead sheet to an entire musical, from a simple piano piece to a book of collected piano works, from simple songs for pre-schoolers to virtuoso solo and ensemble works. By putting only each individual work under a contract instead of you as a composer or writer, you are given the freedom to create at your own pace: as fast or as slow as you need.
If you have not before and are interested in submitting a work for publication, please send the following to submissions@mjs-publishing.com:
- A sample of your work
- A brief paragraph or two about you, your education, musical work, influences, etc.
- A brief description of what all you would like to publish through Matthew J. Scott Music Publishing
Please note that, unfortunately, open submissions does not mean guaranteed acceptance. If you are looking for a way to offer your works to the public without having to go through a submission process, there are many good ways to do so, such as SibeliusMusic or The Internet Archive. Do not let this scare you away from applying, however, as we are guaranteed to look at and provide feedback for every submission!
If you are still curious, you can read more in our frequently asked questions or you can contact us for more information.
